The Way of Water: Embodied Movement for Women

As we work with the water element in movement, we learn how to soften, enjoy, and take our time as we find the path of least resistance. The water element invites us to open to our feelings and to connect with the innate sensuousness of our bodies. Fluid movement is a result of being able to receive the feelings and energy that are flowing through our bodies, and move in connection with that feeling. In the water element, receiving comes before doing. If we take action before receiving, we are locked in an automatic pattern and can feel a bit robotic.

Embodying the Water Element: Softness and receptivity are key aspects of embodying the water element. To be able to let go and let energy flow freely through us, we first need to soften. Softening is the key to feeling, receiving, and being nourished. Softening creates room within our bodies and minds–space for us to be given to. When we are tight, there is no room inside of us for energy to flow or for us to be nourished.

This workshop is for you if:

You feel tight and crunchy in your body and want to feel softer and more easeful in your movement
Your body doesn’t feel as open and free as it once did, or as you’d like it to be
You’re ready to go deeper into connecting with your body and breath
You’re a ‘yes’ to becoming more relaxed, learning to listen more deeply inward, and feeling deeply replenished from within.

This workshop is NOT for you if:
You like moving mechanically and don’t want to change that
You’re not interested in becoming more receptive
You prefer to think of your body as a doing machine
The idea of ‘thawing out’ and unwinding patterning doesn’t appeal to you
