Here’s what to do when you eat too much or not the right thing for your body, and your body feels crummy:
- When you feel icky after eating a little too much, don’t waste one minute feeling guilty or bad about it. And definitely do not try to unwind the deep inner patterns right now. Save that for when you’re feeling better and in a good head space for it.
- Give your body the chance to recover through more rest and sleep more than usual. Go to bed extra early and give your body a little more sleep. Do the Amba Deep Nourishment® practice to drop into spaciousness, rest your mind and body, and unwind on the micro level.
- The next day, get your lymph and vital energy moving with heat therapy such as sauna, cold therapy such as a cold shower or plunge, dry brushing, body Gua Sha, massage, or all of the above.
- Get your sweet body moving! But before you do, ask your body what type of movement she wants. It could be the Amba Luscious Movement practice (slow, sensuous, fluid, infused with velvety breath), a vigorous walk, weights, yoga, or something else. Really listen to what your body’s intelligence is suggesting rather than ‘mind-over-mattering’ it.
- This step is crucial: Discipline your mind not to try and figure out your life when you’re not feeling well. Wait until you’re feeling better so that the frequency of your thoughts is flowing from your clarity and essence, instead of the fog of the imbalance you’re currently in.
The truth is, most of us eat a little too much, or eat something that doesn’t resonate with our bodies from time to time. The key is not to aim for perfection, but to know how to recover and restore our vitality with ease and confidence. Having a plan that really works gives us peace of mind that we know exactly what to do. Our confidence in restoring our foundational vitality allows us to know that these little moments of feeling crappy don’t have to throw us off course.
